Call for Blue Solutions from Africa

 “blue solutions” to be presented at the Regional Forum on Solutions for Oceans, Coasts and Human Wellbeing in Africa organized by the Blue Solutions Initiative. The Forum will take place in Zanzibar, Tanzania in early June 2016 and willconnect practitioners and decision-makers to

-       enable mutual learning and support knowledge transfer on experiences;

-       facilitate the adaptation of successful experiences towards the implementation of sustainable solutions in marine and coastal contexts.

Blue Solutions are successfully implemented initiatives, projects, processes, methods or tools, related to marine and coastal planning, management and governance for sustainable development.  They can fall into one of the Blue Solutions Initiative’s focal areas (marine and coastal spatial planning and management, marine protected areas, ecosystem services, climate change adaptation and mitigation, sustainable finance), or address related issues such as sustainable fisheries, tourism, marine litter, educational or capacity development measures, etc.

To submit a solution, you can directly fill in the Blue Solutions template in either English or French available on the Blue Solutions website, or contact us. If you are aware of blue solutions implemented by others, please forward this call or put us in touch with a contact person involved.

Solutions will be uploaded onto the “Solutions Explorer” online platform in development (see beta version of the Solutions Explorer). If submitted until 30th November, your blue solution will be considered for presentation at the Regional Forum. For presentation at the forum, solutions illustrating a range of topics and different levels of implementation (from local to multi-national, hands-on to policy) will be selected. Solutions not selected for presentation at the forum will nonetheless be published on the Solutions Explorer platform and become an integral part of a growing pool of solutions for exchange.
