MSGBC Summit: PRCM raising stakeholders’ awareness

In May, PRCM took part in the MSGBC Summit, a high-level event held at the King Fahd Palace in Dakar and dedicated to exploring energy opportunities in Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Guinea Conakry.

From its exhibition stand, PRCM sought to convey its commitments in favor of environmental protection and especially to raise awareness on the impacts of offshore oil and gas activities on biodiversity at a time when they are experiencing a rapid development in the sub-region.

During the third day, when taking the floor during one of the panel discussions, PRCM Director Dr. Ahmed Senhoury stressed the need to establish norms and standards, and pleaded for a strong commitment of countries for their application. He also stressed the importance of promoting transparency in oil projects and integrating them into national economies so that the funds generated are invested for future generations.

Similarly, PRCM seized the occasion to promote the 2nd edition of the MOOC on environmental management of offshore oil and gas activities. At the PRCM booth, which was well attended, many visitors expressed a keen interest in this training.

MSGBC is a Summit recognized by the regional and international communities as the meeting place for the latest updates on current and upcoming projects related to oil and gas activities in the region that brings together government ministries, regulators and policy makers as well as international operators.
