From August 5 to 7, 2025, the coastal town of Saly, Senegal, hosted the very first experience-sharing and project consolidation workshop under the RESILAO initiative. Organized by the Regional Partnership for the Conservation of the Coastal and Marine Zone (PRCM), the workshop brought together 34 in-person participants, including project implementers and members of the Project Coordination Unit (PCU), as well as several other contributors joining online.
The Saly workshop pursued a dual objective: first, to draw lessons from the first call for projects launched by PRCM in 2023 by identifying good practices, innovative solutions, and challenges encountered; and second, to strengthen the capacities of project implementers in capitalization, project writing, and monitoring and evaluation.
One of the highlights of the event was the participation of IUCN/BIOPAMA, which shared its experience in capitalization. The BioGuinée Foundation, also invited, took the opportunity to learn from the approaches developed within the RESILAO project. The presentation of tools used, lessons learned from field implementation, and challenges overcome led to rich and constructive exchanges. These contributions were well received and served as a valuable source of inspiration for the project implementers in attendance.
“This kind of meeting is essential to improve project quality and promote synergies among stakeholders,” emphasized a member of the PCU.
PRCM hopes that by the end of the workshop, participants will have not only improved their mastery of capitalization tools, but also identified complementarities between ongoing initiatives, in order to enhance the overall impact of the programme.
Funded by the Fonds français pour environment Mondial (FFEM), the RESILAO project aims to strengthen the resilience of coastal ecosystems in West Africa by supporting concrete and sustainable actions. Led by PRCM, the initiative relies on a network of local and regional actors committed to integrated coastal resource management.
As a reminder, eight organizations were selected during the first call for projects and received funding to implement their initiatives. The second call, launched last April, is currently in the selection phase.
